oh canada

on canada day my family and i spent the afternoon in waterton park. when i was younger it used to be a big family tradition to go up every july 1st. i was still pretty young when we stopped going because my gramma's health wasn't what it used to be. i was so excited to go this year though because i hadn't been to waterton for a few summers. my family met up with my mom's cousin and aunt and uncle and we had lunch down by the lake. after we walked around the town and we rented one of those bike things (if you've been on one you'll know what i mean but i'm not sure how to explain it). after that we got icecream...something probably everyone does when they go! we then drove up to red rock and hiked around the path. we ended the day at cameron falls...another thing i'm sure everyone does! the sun had gone behind the mountains and being by the rushing water was pretty chilly. it was such a wonderful day and i'm so glad i got to spend it with my family!

during the day i also thought about how grateful i am to be canadian. sure it always seems like a cool adventure to go and live somewhere else but i'm glad i was born and raised a canadian girl. i think often we take for granted the wonderful country we live in. for one reason it is absolutely beautiful.....i mean i've only ever been to alberta and british columbia but i've seen pictures of the eastern part and they're simply amazing. another reason is that we have rights and freedoms that many other countries do not have and i'm glad we have had people fight and risk their lives in order for this freedom.

so despite the many weird and outrageous canadian stereotypes...i'm proud to be canadian :)

And yes the night ended by watching fireworks with some pretty fantastic people :)
