He's The Reason For The Season

i've thought about what to write for a christmas post for almost a week now and all i've come up with is this.....

christmas is such a difficult time for me each year....losing two of my grandparents so close to christmas has made each christmas different but i've learned to cherish the memories of christmas past....like how gramma used to have us act out the nativity and how grampa would play "here comes santa claus" on the piano only if we batted our eyelashes and promised to be good.....i'm so greatful for my family and the christmas traditions we have and continue to make.

i think the thing that has made christmas less difficult for me is that each year i have learned to love the reason for christmas more and more....

if you have not seen the video "He Is The Gift" yet i highly recommend you watch it. right now. twenty times. okay well watch it once you finish reading this post... because it truly puts everything i believe about christmas into one video. while christmas time is so wonderful to give presents and treats and shop and eat and be busy busy BUSY it's so important to remember that Jesus Christ was the greatest gift ever given to the world. he came in such a humble but amazing way and without him nothing could ever be possible. i know my life has truly been blessed because of his atonement and gospel and i only hope that i can learn to remember that not only on december 25th but all year long.

merry christmas xo

first three months of beauty school

everytime i see people i get asked some of the same questions each time....

first "jaelynn! are you visiting?" nope. i actually moved home at the beginning of september..

second "how's pharmacy tech school?" actually i'm attending beauty school...

third "so can you cut my hair?" *insert face palm* i haven't learned yet...

and then i begin to tell them ALL about my school which is actually amazing.

when i walked into school the first day of school i was beyond nervous. i was convinced that going to a school that was mostly full of girls was going to be full of snotty girls who were cliquey and mean....i was wrong.

i love that i got put in the class i did. my group of eight cliqued and i quickly discovered they weren't snotty or mean but so nice and funny! i'm glad that four of them will be moving onto the hair program with me!

i recently finished the first part of my program. i learned to do manicures, pedicures, gel nails, make-up, eyelash extensions, facials, and waxing. i was nervous about almost all of it! but after the theory day i wasn't nervous at all and i actually enjoying doing everything! oh except for gel nails....those are nasty! makeup is my favourite by far. i think it's because you have so much freedom to express your creativity which is what i love about the whole beauty industry!

the past three months have been both stressful and amazing! wearing all black doesn't bother me any more most days and i'm glad that i get to spend the next nineish months surrounded by amazing students and instructors!

sexy hair

i don't think i could live without my sexy hair products. i'm all for trying new products but i do have my favorites i don't ever want to give up!

here are my three favorite sexy hair products :)

1.) Smooth Sexy Hair-Smooth Encounter

i got this as a sample at ABA and decided to try it out. it has coconut oil in it which is supposed to make your hair SUPER soft! but i love this more than plain coconut oil because it's not oily....it's more of a crème. i towel dry my hair before adding a small amount to the strands of my hair and then blow dry! i've never had softer hair! i will definitely be on the look out for a full size of this product!

2.) Healthy Sexy Hair-Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner

when i'm not using "smooth encounter" or when my hair is feeling a bit dry i spray this in my hair and comb it through. it's an awesome moisturizer! i love the healthy sexy hair products because they are awesome for color treated hair!

3.) Style Sexy Hair-H2NO

i have tried a dozen different dry shampoos. and not one has ever been amazing. i mean they were okay...some left behind residue or didn't add volume or make my hair feel cleaner. BUT this one is awesome! I've only been using it for a month and i don't use it every day but i love it so far! finding dry shampoo that helps give volume to my hair is an awesome find because i hate adding other products that make it feel super greasy!

so if you love hair and you want to try these out i highly recommend them!

i'm thankful for...

thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. not just because you get to eat A LOT of food without being judged but because it gives me time to reflect on what i'm thankful for. i've realized there are so many things i'm thankful for and sometimes i take them for granted....

first thing i'm thankful for is my wonderful family. my mom, dad, kaden and macey and of course my puppy. they have been with me through the highs and lows and have done so much for me and i don't think i'll ever be able to thank them enough for everything. i'm glad i get to be with them for all of eternity.

i'm thankful for my grandparents...the ones here and that have passed away. my grampa means the world to me. i think he's one of the few people who completely understands me and loves me no matter what. he is incredible. my gramma is just as incredible. she has taught me so much and shows me so much love.

i am forever thankful for my friends. unlike my family they have CHOSE to put up with me and love me anyways. i'm thankful for my friends serving missions, preparing to go on missions, and the ones who don't live close to anymore but i get to talk to all the time. i seriously couldn't ask for better people in my life.

i'm thankful for my school. i have only been there a month but i have learned so much already! the instructors are so fun and the girls...both new like me and the ones who have been there longer...are seriously the best!! i couldn't ask for a better way to spend every day.

i'm thankful to be a member or the church of jesus christ of latter day saints. i don't know where i would be without the church or the gospel in my life.

i think i could talk forever about everything i'm thankful for but i'm sure no one wants to read a post that will take them 500 hours to read but these are the main things!

happy thanksgiving :)

though miles lay between us

i'm going to post this now so she sees it before she leaves and her life gets super crazy!

in a few short days one of my very best friends turns 19! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! she's an oldie!! and the day after she turns 19 she gets to report to the Provo MTC (missionary training center) which after she will leave to serve a mission in Toronto for 18 months!!

camille has been living in the philipenes for the past few weeks and janae and i have missed her like crazy. skype is nice but it's just not the same. i'm not quite sure what i will do when i can only email her once a week and not get to see her beautiful face until spring of 2016!

but she's gonna do amazing things. she's so darling and sweet and will touch many lives!! she definitely has changed my life for the better (and i'm sure janae would say the same!) i know for a fact that sometimes god puts people in your life for a reason and i'm sure glad he put these two into my life!

i'm so excited for you camille!!!

four is company

i have spent nearly every spring break, february break and a few weeks each summer since livie, luke and sophie were born with this family. and i lived with them the past year. i think we all grew up together...they taught me a lot and i sure hope that some of me rubbed off on them too. i'm so excited to see them continue to grow up and become individuals. each of their personalities is so different and i love them oh so much.
